A focus on solutions and dedication to technology has been the basis for the success of CiS electronic GmbH since the very beginning. In 1980 the company’s owner, Peter M. Wöllner, and his small family team developed special plugs with a single pole bulkhead bushing, which withstood the immense pressure of 1200 bar for research purposes in the deepest seabeds of the Mariana Trench.
The company’s milestones at a glance
For the third year running the CiS group has been very involved as an active member of the UN Global Compact and has also published a contribution in the 2016 yearbook. The 'Migration and flight" yearbook address this topic itself on the one hand but on the other hand also addresses the topic of companies and human rights. Alongside the consideration of sustainable development goals, the yearbook also focussed on good practical examples the CiS group is one of 28 companies such as ABB, Audi, BOSCH, Daimler and Miele, that are turning the ten principles of the Global Compact into guidelines and regard the 2030 Agenda as an opportunity. The CiS Group, with headquarters in Krefeld, Germany and production sites in the Czech Republic and Romania, are continuing to make preparations for the future in the areas of customised connection technology and connectors.
With the signing of a contract dated 15 August 2016, the two companies CiS electronic GmbH and the GSN Group want to make their 13 years of successful collaboration even more binding and position themselves strategically for a common future. It is now contractually regulated that CiS will take over the factory representation from GSN and that both companies will continue hand in hand towards a joint and prosperous future.
"For the customer, there is outstanding value through a close partnership between GSN and CiS. Customer needs are always at the forefront, and a professional, fast and reliable quality can be optimally ensured", said Frank Püschel, Owner of GSN Corporation GmbH & Co. KG.
The cable assembly company, system technology and mechatronics provider CiS, with registered office in Krefeld, Germany, and production sites in the Czech Republic and Romania, continue to implement their high quality standards in the automotive market.
The recent surveillance audit conducted by IQNet and DQS GmbH, the Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen, at the production sites of CiS automotive SRL in Copsa Mica and Axente Sever, Romania, was a complete success. A subsequent VDA 6.3 audit of a major German automotive supplier in the newly built production site of Axente Sever also resulted in site approval.
"The whole CiS team have done an excellent job in order to meet the high standards of the automotive industry. The surveillance audit and, particularly, the very demanding customer audit pursuant to VDA 6.3 confirm the implemented quality at CiS. This is a great success, which will help promote the growth of our group of companies", notes Peter M. Wöllner (owner of the CiS Group and Managing Director of CiS automotive GmbH).
On 1 September 2016, Dipl. Wirt. -Ing. (college) Jacek Helle MBA, formerly an independent entrepreneur with 15 years of experience in a consulting firm he founded himself, took on the role of COO Manager at CiS electronic GmbH.
He takes over from Mr Dipl.-Ing. Andreas Cellar, MBA who, following four years of service, is leaving the company of his own accord. “We would like to thank Mr Cellar for the excellent collaboration and wish him all the best, good health, and great success in both his private and professional future”, says Peter M. Wöllner, owner of the CiS Group.
“I am very happy that I was able to spark Mr Helle’s enthusiasm for CiS. I already had the opportunity to get to know and appreciate Mr Helle as a competent consultant and entrepreneur when CiS took over the BMB Kabeltechnik GmbH company. I am sure that, working together with him and the entire management team, we will be able to push on further with the successful expansion of the CiS Group within the framework of the ‘iSpeed’ corporate strategy,” explains Peter M. Wöllner, CEO and owner of the CiS Group.
The cable assembly company and system technology provider CiS, with registered office in Krefeld, Germany, and production sites in the Czech Republic and Romania, continues to implement its high quality standards. This is confirmed by various auditors as part of recertification audits that were recently carried out.
The quality management system of the CiS Group was reviewed according to DIN EN ISO 9001 and recertified. This is a confirmation of the quality policies that have been successfully applied at CiS for years. The CiS automotive SRL in Romania has also been audited according to ISO/TS 16949 and recertified, thus confirming the successful implementation of the high quality requirements for the automotive industry.
“The recertification audits confirm the quality practiced at CiS. This reliable high level of quality can, however, only be guaranteed by the performance of all CiS employees,” says the delighted quality management representative, Andreas Schmidt, (‘Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing.’, Industrial Engineer).
At an event organised by SIEMENS AG, the cable assembly company CiS electronic GmbH received a recognition award for third place in the logistics competition 2014/2015 – the outstanding logistics services of CiS winning that 3rd place out of about 50 evaluated suppliers.
CiS has been working successfully with Siemens AG for over 30 years. This award is both praise and an incentive and has been won by the entire CiS team.
By acquiring BMB Kabeltechnik GmbH in Paderborn, Germany and BMB Kabeltechnik SRL, RO-Copsa Mica, in the Sibiu/Hermannstadt region, the CiS Group with registered office in Krefeld, Germany and production sites in the Czech Republic and Romania is pursuing its “iSpeed” strategy in large-scale production for the automotive industry and large-scale production industries.
This represents a workforce increase to well above 1,000 employees in the CiS Group. A wonderful success in the year of the company’s 40th anniversary.
On being entered in the commercial register in Krefeld on 25 November 2015, BMB Kabeltechnik GmbH was renamed CiS automotive GmbH and the company headquarters relocated to Krefeld. This completes the integration of the former BMB Kabeltechnik into the CiS Group with all its sites, staff and processes.
Founded initially in 1972 as an engineering firm, CIS: Components Instruments Systems GmbH & Co. KG came into being in 1975. In 1980 Peter M. Wöllner, current owner, joined the company as sales manager with the personnel no. 12. Today CiS looks back as a healthy company on a 40-year company history with its highs and lows. In 1997 Wöllner founded a wholly-owned subsidiary of CiS electronic GmbH in the Czech Republic, CiS SYSTEMS s.r.o., in Nové Mésto p.S., and moved all production in the Czech Republic to that location.
The CiS Group currently employs over 720 staff. CiS is strongly committed to standing up for the values of the Global Compact, the environment and a number of social projects both at home and abroad.
On 8 April 2015, an area of more than 10,000m² with existing production halls was purchased in Axente Sever, approx. 40 km to the north of Sibiu/Hermannstadt in Romania. “In the first construction phase we are beginning by extending and renovating one of these halls to create enough space for approx. 150-200 staff in production, warehouse and administration”, says Peter M. Wöllner, owner of the CiS Group. “I am really pleased that we will soon be creating new jobs in Siebenbürgen and be able to offer our customers modern large-scale production”.
CiS automotive SRL will launch production in this production building this summer, taking into consideration the requirements stipulated by ISO-TS 16949. With the support of our plant in the Czech Republic, starting on 1 October 2014 we have been in a position to offer the relevant production capacities, which will be shifted to Romania at a later date.
“Recently in 2009 we invested in Hejnice by buying a factory site complete with over 11,000 m² of production space. At that time, the factory in Nové Mesto/Ludvíkov was being well-used in spite of the global economic crisis. These new properties were intended to serve the homogenous growth. Over the past few years one hall after another has been filling up with new workplaces. Now it is time for another three halls with a combined production space of more than 3,000 m² to be put into operation. To ensure the production sites meet the highest standards, CiS intends to use the latest technology and focus on ensuring energy efficiency in the process. The new production sites are expected to be up and running in the fall of this year and should create space for more than 400 added jobs split between two shifts. Through this expansion, CiS is establishing the ideal conditions for the coming years to allow us to successfully implement the i-Speed growth strategy. This year CiS is planning further investment in growth and production sites in Romania too, to be able to meet the high demand coming from the automotive market.
As part of its ongoing commitment to a consistent environmental policy, the CiS Group, headquartered in Krefeld, Germany, has successfully certified its Czech production facility to DIN ISO 14001. In 2012, the company joined WFF (World Forest Foundation) as sustaining member and all its German locations have since become CO2-neutral.
By training two long-standing employees to acquire the "European Energy Manager" qualification, the internal knowledge on energy efficiency has been further extended in 2013. CiS is working on reducing energy consumption further, and thus towards reducing CO2 emissions as well. On the festive occasion of the annual event of the "Senate of Economy", CiS was the first German company to receive a certificate for its effective climate protection efforts in, November 2013. Dr. Christoph Brüßel, Chairman of the "World Forest Initiative" of the "Senate of Economy", presented Mr Peter M. Wöllner with the first certificate of the WFF.
The CiS Group, with registered office in Krefeld, Germany and production sites in the Czech, is expanding its expertise in large-scale production for the automotive industry and large-scale production industries. "CiS automotive SRL" was established in Axente Server, about 40 km north of Sibiu/Hermannstadt, as a subsidiary of the CiS electronic GmbH, Krefeld. The availability of highly experienced specialists in the field of cable assembly for the automotive industry was instrumental in choosing this location. The plan is to build a modern production facility in Axente Server, taking into account the requirements of ISO-TS 16949. As an interim solution to meet any demand at a short notice, the existing older hall can also be used. CiS automotive SRL is also opening an engineering office in the state-of-the-art "Sibiu Business Centre" on 1 October, staffed with experienced professionals in cable assembly for the automotive industry. A state-of-the-art, highly automated production plant for approximately 300-500 employees is planned. It is expected to be completed in the fall of 2015.
A WCA (Workplace Conditions Assessment) performed at the production site in the Czech Republic determined that the workplaces and working conditions, such as occupational safety, salaries and working hours, health and safety as well as the management system and environmental management, were at the highest level and well above the global average.

This initiative implements specific reforestation projects based on the principle “close to nature, forest, restoration” in order to help solve climate problems in the long-term and to ensure general welfare. It is an investment in a sustainable economic and ecological project that creates jobs worldwide. This forest management allows the CiS Group to ensure that its activities are sustainable and climate neutral and will enable this to be certified in the future. CiS is preparing a CO² audit as the basis for its active measures. A healthy economy needs a healthy climate! The CiS Group is taking on corporate responsibility for all our futures. The first step towards a completely climate neutral CiS Group involved the neutralisation of the CO² emissions of all the German locations of CiS electronic GmbH by participating in a reforestation project in Panama.

On 1 October 2011, CiS opened another branch in Bad Wünnenberg near Paderborn, which recruited important knowledge carriers from the insolvent cable assembly company PaderTeg GmbH from Paderborn. The integration of these engineering experts into the CiS Group’s competence network creates significant synergy effects, which benefit both CiS as well as former PaderTeg customers.
On 4 October 2011, CiS founded the subsidiary newcab GmbH & Co. KG as a joint venture between the former managers and employees of the insolvent PaderTeg GmbH and NTT Navigations- und Tracking Systeme GmbH. newcab has access to almost 40 years of cable assembly know-how and is a specialist in cable assembly and system technology in small and medium quantities, which ideally complement the CiS Group’s range of products and services. newcab produces on-site and offers its customers solutions “made in Germany”.
Despite economic crisis and flood disaster in the Czech Republic the CiS Group continues to expand
The economic crisis in 2009 had been a break for many other industrial companies in the same manner as for the CiS Group. In 2010, however, it is clearly a trend of expansion noticeable.
Sales have significantly increased within the first seven months so that the successfully operating company can assume to reach the same level of business activities as in 2008. In order to permanently cope with the high demand of current and new customers, CiS increased their personnel by 150 direct workers. The production expansion in the new facility of Hejnice enables CiS to make the production and logistic processes more efficient towards the customers.
CiS secured a further 11,000m2 of production and storage space for the planned growth of the CiS Group.
The central warehouse and some manufacturing areas are relocated from Ludvíkov to Hejnice.
The “1. Meisterschule Isergebirge” is relocated to the new CiS systems s.r.o. training centre in Hejnice.
CiS establishes the first college for foremen with German course content in the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Technical University of Liberec and Knorr Bremse s.r.o., CZ-46362 Hejnice. The project receives technical support from the Dresden Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
As the Czech Republic does not have a dual education system, this has made a virtue of necessity. The first “foremen” start their course in the “1. Meisterschule ISERGEBIRGE” in order to train employees from the Production department. About 95% of the German foremen course content is covered.
The course content is comprised of about 300 hours of technology, 152 hours of organisation and 137 hours of management spread across two years. The lessons are held at CiS, Knorr Bremse and the Technical University. Every student can officially take their exam at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
