Wire harness
Customized, complex wiring production
CiS manufactures customized cable harnesses and cable sets in small to medium series, including professional cable harness braiding. Whether automotive engineering or environmental technology – we develop and assemble lines of various sizes and complexity in a wide range of industries.
Do you need sophisticated cabling? CiS, as an industry leader in the field of cable assembly, offers you custom-made and assembled cable harnesses, according to your specific requirements for. The creation of complex, individual cable harnesses as well as careful assembly distinguishes us.
What are cable harnesses? – The composition
A wiring harness is a prefabricated bundles of cables. Individual cables, such as working currents (energy) or signals (information), are combined in a harness and connected to each other by cable ties, clamps hoses or twine.
Cable harnesses are complex cable assemblies, which in turn are composed of the individual sets described above. In addition to cables, wires, contacts and suitable connectors (e.g. Sub-D), other system components are often important components of a cable harness. These include electronic circuits, sensors, switches and mechanical components. Stranded wires, wires and coaxial cables are also housed in a wiring harness when ordered. Another term for cable harness is “wiring harness,” although the term is often used to refer to a grouping of cable harness.
How is a wiring harness made ?
Cable harnesses are made from individual optical or electrical conductors. These are insulated, bundled and preformed. They are then combined with each other via connectors and cable protection. Although we use modern machines, tools and software in the design phases, the actual manufacturing is still mostly done manually. This is due to the large number of possible variants. By hand, the respective cables are brought together on a nail board to form a cable harness. In order to be able to efficiently manufacture such complex structures in series, auxiliary constructions such as laying boards or sample assemblies are necessary.
The manual production of wire harnesses, for vehicles for example, involves the correct alignment of the cables or wires as well as the precise joining of all components involved. Even if the cable harness production is manual, only a short processing time is necessary for the assembly. Therefore, you can benefit from our favorable production costs.
Where are cable harness used?
As a manufacturer of cable assemblies, we at CiS electronic GmbH bring a great deal of experience in various markets, industries and applications. In the following areas we develop suitable solutions for cable harness production and cable harness assembly according to your requirements:
Modern measurement technology and precise quality controls
During the cable harness manufacturing process, we make use of modern measuring technology. We check every single cable 100 percent computer-aided and document the quality. Very often we assemble highly complex cable harnesses, which can consist of more than 100 sub-cable sets. We bind these in a suitable form. After electrical testing, a simple „plug and play“ installation in the customer-specific device or vehicle of the respective manufacturer is possible. This allows us to significantly shorten your time to market.
In addition to quality assurance processes, the production of a wire harness must meet high engineering and supply chain management requirements. To ensure that all production processes at our customers and also manufacturers mesh seamlessly, we use only highly trained specialists.
The great advantages of wire harness manufacturing
The development of wiring harnesses requires a lot of detailed work and precision. After all, it is not so easy to replace a wire or cable later. This conscientiousness definitely pays off. After all, cable harnesses bring great economic benefits compared to individual cables. The clear interconnection of cables avoids installation errors from the outset and can speed up complex installations – for example in plant engineering. Another advantage is the low installation volume of a cable harness. This results in more space for other components. In addition to saving time and space, a wiring harness offers additional protection against vibrations.
Overview of the advantages of a cable harness compared to wiring with individual cables or lines:
Reduction of the installation time at the customer
Optimization of the required space
Simplified connection of components
Easier maintenance
Additional protection against vibration, abrasion and erosion
Potential reduction of electromagnetic compatibility
