    A high-frequency cable is a special cable designed for the transmission of high-frequency signals. It is used, for example, in telecommunications, medical technology, and high-frequency engineering. The frequency can range from a few megahertz to several gigahertz. High-frequency cables are designed to transport signals safely over long distances with minimal losses and interference. When assembling high-frequency cables, particular attention must be paid to the processing of the cable shield. This usually consists of a metal strip (aluminum), a braided shield, or a combination of both. Depending on the complexity and series size, processing is carried out manually or fully automatically at CiS.

    Twisted-Pair High-Frequency Cable

    Data cables with twisted pairs of various categories, widely used in today’s data networks, are also considered high-frequency cables. In this technology, unshielded and shielded RJ45 connectors are the most commonly used.

    Twinax Cable

    One innovation is the Twinax cable, developed by the manufacturer 3M and processed by CiS. It utilizes the advantages of a flat cable structure for transmitting high-frequency (HF) signals. CiS is one of the few cable assembly companies worldwide capable of processing such innovative cables.

    Konfektionierte High Frequency Cable (HF-Kabel) werden in allen Systemen mit Übertragungen hochfrequenter analoger und digitaler Signale eingesetzt. Zu den Anwendungen gehören beispielsweise Systeme der Messtechnik, Materialanalyse, Daten-, Mobilfunk-, TV- und Rundfunkübertragung. Zu den Branchen zählen die Automotive industry, Medical technology, Datentechnik, Telekommunikation sowie Aviation, Raumfahrt und Wehrtechnik.

      Der Leiter besteht meist aus Kupferdraht oder einer mehradrigen Litze. Der Vorteil eines einzelnen Drahtes ist die höhere elektrische Belastbarkeit des Kabels und die bessere Dämpfung. Dagegen weist die mehradrige Litze die Eigenschaft einer deutlich höheren Flexibility auf.

      Dielectric

      Dielectric

      Das Dielectric bildet die nicht leitende Substanz eines Hochfrequenzkabels und beeinflusst die hochfrequenten Eigenschaften in der Übertragung. Bei der Verarbeitung ist besondere Sorgfalt erforderlich, um die Übertragungseigenschaften wie Wellenwiderstand, Leitungsdämpfung und Reflexionsdämpfung nicht zu beeinträchtigen. Das Dielectric besteht aus unterschiedlichen Materialien: Ein Dielektrikum aus Polyethylen (PE) kommt vorwiegend für Anwendungen bei hohen Temperaturen zum Einsatz. Zudem wird eine niedrige Dämpfung des Kabels erreicht. Wird Polytetrafluorethylen (PTFE) als Material für das Dielektrikum verwendet, wird eine niedrigere Dichte erreicht.

      Shielding

      Shielding

      Die Shielding wird auch als Außenleiter bezeichnet und besteht aus einer Folien- oder Geflecht Schirmung. Je nach Material werden unterschiedliche Frequenzbereiche beziehungsweise Schirmdämpfungen erreicht. Auch die Kombination von Folien- und Geflecht Schirmung ist bei der Herstellung von Hochfrequenzkabeln möglich.

      Der Cable Sheath dient dem mechanischen Schutz von Hochfrequenzkabeln. Flexible Lösungen sind hier besonders gefragt, als auch die Beständigkeit gegen Chemikalien oder extreme Temperaturen und Anforderungen an den Brandschutz.
