With Our Stranded Wires, You’re Not Just Connecting Cables – You’re Connecting Quality and Reliability!

Stranded wires are fine, flexible bundles made up of multiple thin individual wires, commonly used in the production of electrical cables, conductors, and connectors. Learn more about the unique properties of stranded wires.
Connecting the World With Our Strands

In electrical engineering, stranded wire refers to a conductor composed of multiple thin individual wires, making it highly flexible. Copper is predominantly used as the conductor material. Stranded wires are categorized as either flexible or highly flexible, depending on their construction. A stranded wire may consist of dozens or even hundreds of fine copper wires. A 1.5 mm² H07V-K stranded wire is made up of 30 x 0.25 mm individual strands that are twisted into a bundle. A plastic sheath encases the bundle, providing structural integrity and electrical insulation.
The construction of stranded wires is defined by international standards, such as IEC 60228/VDE 0295. The plastic sheath material varies depending on the intended application. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the standard material used for H07V-K stranded wires. Depending on the cross-section, the finished stranded wire can be used for both signal and power transmission.
Stranded wires offer greater flexibility and bendability than conventional solid copper wires. This flexibility results from their composition of many fine individual wires. Compared to solid conductors, stranded wires have a significantly lower risk of breakage. Such breakage can occur, for example, due to mechanical stress caused by vibration or bending. Stranded wires are therefore preferred for connecting moving components, such as in vibrating areas like doors, trunk lids, or robotic systems.
Stranded wires are used as electrical connections in vehicles, mechanical engineering, vending machines, and medical technology —for example, in ventilators or MRI systems. They are also used in control engineering, control cabinet wiring, and renewable energy systems. We are happy to advise you and provide customised stranded wire solutions. All copper cables are available in the required length in metres and in various colours. Typical application areas include:
-
Medical technology, bspw. in Beatmungsgeräten oder MRT-Geräten
-
Control engineering
-
Control cabinet wiring

Production of Assembled Stranded Wires Using Semi- or Fully Automated Processes
Stranded wire assembly is the simplest form of cable assembly. It involves processing the ends of cut-to-length strands, typically in the following steps:
- Removing the insulation from the strand ends
-
Soldering or crimping electrical contacts onto one or both ends
-
Screwing into screw terminals
