Doch was genau sind Hochvoltkabel? Der Begriff Hochvoltsystem stammt aus der Fahrzeugtechnik und beschreibt ein System, das mit Wechselspannungen über 30 V bis 1 kV oder mit Gleichspannungen über 60 V bis 1,5k V betrieben wird.
Eine „Hochvoltbatterie“ (400 V bis 800 V) oder auch „Hochvoltspeicher“ ist eine elektrische Energiequelle für mobile und stationäre Anwendungen. Beim Einsatz in Fahrzeugen wird sie auch als Antriebsbatterie oder als Traktionsbatterie bezeichnet.
High-voltage cables are made up of multiple layers, each essential to their functionality. The outermost layer is an insulating sheath that protects the cable from moisture, dust, and other environmental factors.
Beneath it lies a shielding layer that reduces electromagnetic interference and helps stabilize current flow. At the core is the actual conductor, typically made of copper or aluminum, which transmits the electrical current. Depending on the application, multiple conductors may be integrated into a single cable.
Der wesentliche Unterschied zwischen einem Hochvoltkabel und einem Niedervoltkabel ist die Spannung, die transportiert wird. Hochvoltkabel transportieren Spannungen im Bereich von mehreren Hundert bis 1.000 Volt, während Niedervoltkabel nur Spannungen bis zu 50 Volt transportieren. Dadurch gibt es bei Hochvoltkabeln spezifizierte Sicherheitsvorschriften welche eingehalten werden müssen.
High-Voltage Cable finden vor allem in Elektroautos und Hybridfahrzeugen Anwendung. Dort transportieren diese den Strom zwischen den elektrischen Komponenten. Zusätzlich zu ihrer Funktion in Elektro- und Hybridfahrzeugen finden High-Voltage Cable auch in anderen Anwendungen Verwendung, wie z.B. in der Energy technology und der Industrie. Hier werden diese beispielsweise für den Transport von Gleichstrom oder Wechselstrom eingesetzt. Hochvoltkabel werden außerdem in Brennstoffzellen, Hochvoltbatterien und elektrifizierten Bordnetzen genutzt und sorgen dort für die effiziente Energieübertragung.
