Apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at CiS

CiS has been a recognised IHK training company for industrial clerks for over 35 years. Many of the former trainees are now an integral part of this successful team. The Krefeld-based family business is looking for new trainees every year.

CiS offers apprenticeships to learn the profession of industrial clerk and is interested in new colleagues who will strengthen and enrich the team on a long-term and binding basis. Practical training is at the centre of this apprenticeship. CiS offers a varied preparation for everyday working life and a host of benefits. The theoretical knowledge is taught at the vocational school Berufskolleg Kaufmannsschule  der Stadt Krefeld in the form of block lessons.

What do you do as an industrial clerk?

Industrial clerks are the all-rounders in the company. At the CiS Group's training centre, you get to know the entire company process by actively working in various departments. Marketing and sales, human resources, operational and strategic purchasing including warehousing, dispatch, incoming goods through to financial accounting and controlling. The trainees also have the opportunity to visit the production sites in the Czech Republic as well as our subsidiaries Zabel Technik GmbH & Co. KG in Krefeld and newcab GmbH & Co. KG in Paderborn, to work there and to understand which products are manufactured and sold.

In this training company, you have the unique opportunity to start working immediately, there are no test worlds - everything is real. This means that after an appropriate induction, you can talk to customers, negotiate with suppliers or carry out invoicing. We trust our trainees and are delighted when they enjoy taking on responsibility. We want them to contribute their own ideas and apply what they have learnt directly in practice. Teamwork and commercial thinking are learnt from day one. We offer the practical prerequisites that will help you to pass the written and oral exams with ease.

Apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at CiS

What skills do industrial clerks need?

CiS offers several apprenticeships for industrial clerks every year. With such an apprenticeship, you secure a solid commercial education. Above all, a willingness to learn, enjoyment of teamwork and strong communication skills are expected. A school-leaving certificate is required as a minimum. A vocational baccalaureate or Abitur would be recommended. But the most important thing is a keen interest in commercial contexts, as well as a desire for commercial management and ongoing training. We are looking for colleagues who want to make a difference, contribute their own ideas and scrutinise things!

Future after training

The training content at CiS is also based on the official IHK training framework. Accordingly, you get to know all departments with their diverse commercial tasks and are allowed to work as independently as possible according to your abilities. If you perform well at school and in the company, you have the best chance of shortening your apprenticeship to 2.5 years. The apprenticeship normally lasts 3 years. The trainee spends the preparation for the final oral examination in their ‘favourite department’ according to their interests and abilities. After passing the written and oral final exams, the trainee is offered a permanent position if both parties are equally interested. Ideally, the former CiS trainee will then work in the department where they can best utilise their strengths.

If the apprentice would like to continue their education after their apprenticeship, they will be offered a part-time degree programme or another further training option. We are also happy to support trainees who want to take part in SiA, the study programme alongside their training, in order to obtain two qualifications in four years. Supporting personal and professional development during and after training is very important to the entire CiS team.

Our former trainees are achieving great things with us today - Voices of our CiS family: Voices of our CiS family:

‘Trainees are fully integrated here from day one and have to get stuck in straight away. That's very valuable and has impressed me right from the start. If you make an effort, get stuck in and do a good job, you have great opportunities for promotion and are also supported along the way.’

    Jan Steves

'As I work part-time with two children, what I appreciate most about CiS is the flexibility of my working hours and the fact that I can work in a great team with great colleagues in my area of work in a self-organised way.
