Apprenticeship & Talent Development

Apprenticeship as an Industrial Clerk at CiS
CiS has been a recognised IHK-certified training company for industrial clerks for over 35 years. Many former trainees are now an integral part of our successful team. Each year, the Krefeld-based family business seeks new trainees.
CiS offers apprenticeships for aspiring Industrial Clerks and welcomes new colleagues eager to strengthen and enrich the team in the long term. Hands-on training is at the core of this apprenticeship, providing diverse preparation for everyday working life along with numerous benefits. Theoretical knowledge is taught at the Berufskolleg Kaufmannsschule der Stadt Krefeld through block lessons.
What Does an Industrial Clerk Do?
Industrial Clerks are versatile professionals within a company. At the CiS Group training center, you will gain insight into the entire company process by actively working in various departments. This includes marketing and sales, human resources, operational and strategic purchasing, warehousing, dispatch, and incoming goods, as well as financial accounting and controlling. Trainees also have the opportunity to visit our production sites in the Czech Republic and our subsidiary, Zabel Technik GmbH & Co. KG in Krefeld. There, they gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the products we manufacture and sell.
At this training company, you have the unique opportunity to start working immediately—there are no simulations; everything is real. After a structured onboarding, you will communicate with customers, negotiate with suppliers, and handle invoicing. We trust our trainees and are thrilled when they embrace responsibility. We encourage them to contribute their own ideas and apply their knowledge directly in practice. Teamwork and commercial thinking are fostered from day one. We provide the practical foundation to help you succeed in both written and oral exams with confidence.

What Skills Do Industrial Clerks Need?
Each year, CiS offers multiple apprenticeship opportunities for Industrial Clerks. This apprenticeship provides you with a solid foundation in commercial education. Most importantly, we expect a willingness to learn, enthusiasm for teamwork, and strong communication skills. A secondary school diploma is the minimum requirement, while a vocational diploma or Abitur is recommended. However, the key requirement is a strong interest in business processes, along with a passion for commercial management and continuous learning. We seek motivated colleagues who want to make an impact, contribute their own ideas, and think critically!
Career Prospects After Training
At CiS, the training curriculum aligns with the official IHK training framework. As part of the training, you will gain insights into all departments and their diverse commercial tasks, working as independently as your skills allow. Strong performance in both school and at CiS may allow you to shorten your apprenticeship to 2.5 years instead of the standard 3 years. In preparation for the final oral examination, trainees spend time in their ‘preferred department,’ based on their interests and skills. Upon successfully passing the written and oral final exams, trainees are offered a permanent position, provided both parties express mutual interest. Ideally, former CiS trainees will continue in the department that best aligns with their strengths.
If an apprentice wishes to continue their education after completing their apprenticeship, they have the opportunity to enroll in a part-time degree program or another professional development course. We also gladly support trainees who wish to participate in SiA, a dual study program that allows them to earn two qualifications within four years. At CiS, fostering both personal and professional development during and after training is a top priority.
