The CiS Group, specializing in cable assembly, with headquarters in Krefeld and production sites in the Czech Republic and Romania, has been running a social and humanitarian aid project for many years.

"Inspired by intensive discussions with the founder of Andheri-Hilfe and honorary senator of the Senate of Economy, Mrs. Rosi Gollmann, we became aware of the extensive work of the Andheri aid organization. We are very pleased that over the years we have been able to give sight to more than 300 blind people," says Doris Wöllner, CSR Officer of the CiS Group.

The Andheri-Hilfe Bonn e.V. (www.andheri-hilfe.de) has been organizing numerous humanitarian projects in India and Bangladesh for many years. Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world. It is estimated that around 700,000 blind people live there, many of whom are children. Every year, tens of thousands lose their sight due to a lack of medical care and education. In rural areas, where doctors and hospitals are scarce, mobile ophthalmic teams visit patients, examine and treat them, and perform operations either on-site or in hospitals as needed.

Currently, the global COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the world. Now more than ever, people need our help to survive. Through this aid project, we are able to provide rapid and targeted support to the poorest families — for survival and a fresh start.

CiS has been supporting this project since 2014, ensuring that every week, a blind child or one of their parents regains their sight through a cataract operation. Thanks to donations and Mrs. Gollmann’s extraordinary commitment, well over one million eye operations have been made possible.

Although Mrs. Gollmann is a very modest person, it is worth mentioning that her life's work has been honored with many awards, including the Federal Cross of Merit, the Papal Order "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice," the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class, the "Luise Rinser Prize," the Grand Cross of Merit, the WDR Children's Rights Award, and many more.
